Can't imagine why anyone would soak wood in kerosene before using it for firewood but now we know what happens if you do! :dizzy::dizzy:

There is also a video on the link, check it out!

FAIRIFIELD, Maine -- Firewood soaked in kerosene stared a fire that caused a series of explosions at a Norridgewock Road garage on Thursday morning. No one was injured.

Larry Ricker told the Fairfield Fire Department that he was putting wood into the garage stove when a flash fire caused a series of explosions.

"Apparently the gentleman was loading his wood stove with wood that he apparently soaked in kerosene the night before," said Chief Duane Bickford of the Fairfield Fire Department.

The garage held a lawn mower, snowblower and other machinery with gas tanks when the fire occurred. Although the fire destroyed the garage and spread to a nearby mobile home and caused severe damage, Ricker was able to avoid injury.

"It's not a good thing to do ... you shouldn't soak your wood in anything. If you want to start a fire in a wood stove, use a little bit of newspaper," Bickford said.

I have seen people soak tinder dry scrap 2x4s in old motor oil so it will start easier.

Also insurance companies love to raise our rates because of this Idiot:blob2:

Arson: crime of burning property: the burning of a building or other property for a criminal or malicious reason

Stupid does not equal malicious. We should have have a law against BWS (burning while stupid)

It could be arson disguised as stupidity. If I wanted to burn something down, I would install a wood stove and keep a pile of kerosene soaked wood right next to it, lol.

A couple of sticks of dry wood soaked in DIESEL fuel will serve as a sure-fire fire starter. Using K-1 or gas is just asking to have a bad day.
Diesel will not explode like the other stuff.

The law of natural consequences usually handles it pretty well.

Unless some bleeding hearts get in the way, of course. ;)
