    Advice on Tulip Poplar

I have a very tall Tulip Poplar tree close to my house (~20 ft from my front door). The bark on one side looks different than the bark on the rest of the tree, and I'm wondering if it has the beginning of some type of disease. I included 3 photos. The first two photos show the area I am...

Moss and splits in bark on Maple trees

Is moss growing on maple tree bark detrimental to the tree? Is there anything to do for it. Would spraying Wet it Forget it harm the tree? What causes the splits in the bark? I am thinking these two trees are about at the end of their life and may need to be removed. Photos attached.

Pin oak struggling - now tree bark falling off

We’ve had quite a journey with our mighty oaks. We had two that were about 30 feet apart in the back yard. One larger and wider, one tall and existing fine on the perimeter of the other. Both were about 100 feet tall. I measured with a drone. last year we had a pool built and it stressed out...

    Thick bark and flip line

I recently purchased a tree climbing kit because I thought it would be fun and challenging. I underestimated it and how tough it was. I have a steel core Flipline and I find it very hard to climb a tree with really thick bark. When I get further up, the flip line wants to get stuck because it is...

    Sycamore shedding trunk bark, normal?

So it looks like this tree is in the extreme northern part of the Sycamore's normal range here in Wisconsin. My uncle has a rather large example on his farm. Lately I noticed that the bark on the trunk has been shedding and just generally not looking great. I don't know much about these...

    Maple Bark Fungus Needs Treatment?

I had a pruning job for a customer with a Maple and several of the branches in the middle of the canopy had fungus on them that appears to cover the bark like I normally associate with dead branches that are well decaying, but these branches were all alive and the final few feet of most of them...

    Is my tree dying?

Good day, I was curious in knowing if this tree (I believe it is an ash) is dying or just growing. There are a couple more smaller branches not pictured, that the bark appears to be bursting open as well. Thanks

    Help with Japanese Maple

I live in Los Angeles, CA and have a almost 6 year old Japanese Maple tree. It seems to have done well and appears beautiful and healthy. However, over the past year I noticed a groove in the bark and pealing and it appears to have occured in multiple areas. Yesterday I oberved a different...

Cherry bark causing problems for splitting

I cut up a fallen cherry into rounds to split for firewood. The wood is very green, but I have been having difficulties splitting it because of the bark. The wood is very easy to split, but the bark holds it together, and doubles the amount of time needed to split each piece. I have been using...

    Norway Maple Bark Coming Off

I attached a few pictures for reference, but the bark on the lower trunk is starting to rot and separate/fall off. There seems to be a dark stain behind part of the section that is coming off and also a small section of the wood (left side of dark spot) is starting to rot some on the surface...
