036 pro question

hi, im a newbie, been reading on here for quite a while,finally joined last week.been searching and reading on muffler mods alot,always led me to this site,i think you guys together have a bunch of knowledge,my questin being on my 036 pro if i enlarge the hole on the side of the muffler or elongate it to3/8x 3/4, will i gain anything,will carb adjustment be needed?right now my plug is pretty dark brown,saw runs very good and cuts well, just would like to see a little more power?

You would probably have good results opening the exhaust hole 75 to 90 % and you'll need to adjust the carb to the modification.
If you haven't do a search on muffler mods and use the chainsaw forum for better results on chainsaw related ?'s.

Is this a early or late 036 (late = intelli-carb)?

my 036 pro was made in dec.1999, about as late as they were made???
