Hello, I have several rather large pine trees in my yard that would likely smash my house to pieces if they fell on it. I want to remove some of them, but I'd imagine it would not be cheap. First off, I'm trying to confirm that the pine trees with blue needles are blue spruces. I'm fairly certain that they are, but it never hurts to ask. Second, I just want to know if they are worth anything. I don't really care about making any money off of them, I'd just like to know if it would be worth trying to find someone who would cut them down to have them, instead of charging me more than most houses are worth in my area. The house in the pictures is 2 stories tall, so that should give you an idea of the size of the trees.

There are a few other trees I want to ask about, but I already have 8 pictures up.

Nope, worth nothing to you the homeowner. For me the contractor they are worth a nice vacation in the Caribbean.

You will probably find a good reputable tree service in your area that will be willing to remove those spruces for a little less than the value of most houses in your neighborhood.

Spruce's have a lot of volume, near by dump spot will be a savings.

Blue Spruce/Colorado Spruce (picea pungens) not a pine at all. They look good and add value to your property, but not worth anything to anyone after cut really. One of the slower growing small diameter trees so its hard to get any decent wood out of it to make anything.

Ugh...kind of figured they were worthless.

They are of the family Pinaceae...which is...the Pine family. I was under the impression that everything in the pine family was a pine. As far as how slowly they grow...these trees are over 50 years old and 3 feet in diameter. I'm not sure exactly how tall they are, but over 50' is a safe bet.

3 feet in circumference? Approx 1 foot diameter?

Nope, these trees are MUCH larger than 1 foot in diameter. I just went outside and tried to measure the circumference of one of the trees I skirted. Well, I failed miserably because the tape I took with me was only 5' long. This tree was about 2.5ish (no calipers) in diameter and 7ish to 8 feet in circumference.
