Can you run standard chain on a LP bar?

In my quest for a B&C for my old Skil 1631 powerhead, dboyd351 was nice enough to turn me on to a 20" GB bar with the correct A041 mount I need. One issue though, the bar says it's designed for LP chain, but I'd prefer to run standard 3/8 chain. Do you have to run LP chain on an LP bar? I don't see why I couldn't use the larger standard chain since the pitch is the same, and the 69cc motor has the power to pull it, but don't want to make a dangerous mistake either.

Its the same pitch but the teeth on the nose sprocket on the lp bar are different and the standard 3/8 chain won't fit right.

Not a problem if it is a hardnose bar.
