My question is this- I have an opportunity to buy a 60T splitter (Western Pacific) with a Lafin 15hp ($1200) or I could go get a new Northstar 37 w a Honda ($2200+tax). I’ve always borrowed one before from family, so it’s time I buy one. I split 20-25/year and some of that is with volunteers for a non-profit, so I’d be using this with the ‘general public’ so to speak. The Lafin ram is super slow, but who cares.
Thoughts? Opinions?

The Western Pacific is most likely a Chinese model. Engine for sure. Reliability questions aside, I'd shy away from it just on principle.
The Northstar can be had with a commercial Honda engine with auto idle and multi stage hydrualic filtering system. It'd be a safer bet than the unknown.

JRM, appreciate the reply. In hindsight, I’ll classify my question as one of those “If you have to ask, you already know…..”. If totally sold on the Lifan one, it’d be in the shed by now.
