Damaged Hollys

Planted several hollies for a friend of mine and a week later the leaves were turning brown. The nursery she bought them from called her voluntarly and informed her that the wholesale nursery where they get theirs had informed them that the freeze had damage the rootball of all of their hollies. All the buyers of these hollies had the same problem. The nursery replaced them. I did dug the damaged hollies up and put them together and put dirt with peat around the root balls. A landscape designer that was involved mention that the damaged holly would lose their leaves but could survive. SO is there anything I can do to help the damaged hollies survive?

If the nursery is replacing them, why not return them?

They are probably going to hold them for a season, keeping roots moist but not wet, prune the dead tips, and sell them again.
