I agree, elm is beautiful wood, and unfortunately, many folks don't know that. There are many lesser known hardwoods like that. Ash often gets a bad rap for example, even though most can't tell if from oak.

little bigger pic- I use to walk by these old trees ,thinking they were rotton
to the center, I put my saw in on that was laying down and was suprised
to see some nice chips come out so I cut one to 12` and took it home to
see what was inside Got some nice boards out of it went back and got
about 6 more 16 dia.and up Maybe Sat. will mill some up if it stops snowing
got about 8 inch. today
