hey all, got the Echo CS-8000 i got in ebay. taking a look at it.. its got good compression.. but has a list of issues..

hole in plastic cyl cover over sparkplug, tear by muffler.
major dent in muffler.
clutch bearing long ground away.
crack in handlebar mount by fuel tank.

should i even start it with the bad clutch bearing? drum has a LOT of movement! none of these problems were shown/described in the auction..
what fun..

Maybe a start can be done.

Dont use it to saw, as using it can grind the main shaft with the bad bearing. (sofar that isnt damaged already)

it did come with a 24" bar, but no chain.. bar is one of those tiny tip homeowner style things.. i will be putting a 20" powermatch plus bar on it, and baileys woodsmanpro RC chain. will change out the clutch bearing before i even bother to start it.. i just wish i could bill the seller for critical repairs like this..

i have now done a compression check.. 128Psi compression, and it runs strong!

list of issues:
clutch bearing destroyed/missing. (never seen a drum with that much slop!)
top cover has hole in it.
handlebar support cracked half way through.
chain tensioner totally missing.
air filter cover screw broke in half.

just to make it usable (clutch bearing and chain tensioner) will be $25-35

overall: mostly cosmetic, engine itself in great shape, paid a bit much but i am happy with it. local shop had the gall to call it an oldie! lol
