I have a butternut tree growing in the yard and it’s about 7’ straight up before it branches off the leader. If I prune these branches I might get an extra foot of useable lumber later.
I know you can prune when dormant but when is the best pruning time that allows for healing/disease prevention, minimal sap bleeding ?
Do I want to prune early winter, mid winter, late winter, early spring ?
