PTO side. I am seeing more and more of these. There are 3 types of failures here. Case 1: The retainer fails, letting the balls come out of position allowing excessive play that takes out the seal eventually, air leak,..game over.
Case 2: The fit between the inner race and the crankshaft was incorrect from the factory and allowed the crank to spin inside the race eventually wearing the crank down enought to cause a fatal air leak.
Case 3: The outside bearing race has started to spin in the crankcase causing a similar problem but requiring less time to develop a serious leak. We are trying to get extended warranty for our customers who have experienced this. Cheers.
 
havenot had one of thoses in 1 1/2 years on the 385 but when forst came out had tons of them, the factory just sent us a complete bottom endminus the flywheel and clutch.
We had alot of boot problems to but they have fixed that also
