We noticed on one of our newer Red Sunset Maple trees that some insect ( we think a Carpenter Worm Moth) has created a void in our tree trunk and has burrowed a hole inside the hollowed area.
I attached pictures of the tree, including the burrowed hole going up into the trunk and what looks like an exoskeleton that was hanging out of where the hole was bored.
Can anyone tell me what this might be, and more importantly if there is some thing I can do to get rid of it?
