Greetings:

I had this little guy growing in my yard a couple months back. I thought someone had shoved a stick in the ground. But, the "stick" eventually grew a great big leaf on it. It was very funny to look at since the leaf nearly outsized the stick. :) So, I dug it up and planted it in a pot with some good soil. A couple months later, it has grown into what you see in the attached pictures. I think it's some sort of maple tree. Does anyone know what this is?

Thanks

could be a bigleaf maple, Acer macrophyllum, I see your location is private, can you give us a region perhaps?

possibly sugar maple, dont think it is red maple though, leaves are too big for juvenile plant lets see what some other posters have to say.

Deep narrow sinuses look more like silver maple. Looks like you're taking good care of it; hope you find it a good home.
