Pine Tree leaves brown

Hello Folks,

I am new to this forum.

I have some pine trees in my yard...I do not know the kind of pine tree they are. But this year, they seem to be very unhealthy.

The needles are about 1/2 brown and 1/2 green. And some inbetween. There are many dead needles on the ground too. The needles on these pine trees (they seem to be all the same kind), are very long....I would say 5 inches? 6 inches?.

Are these trees deseased? dying? or is this normal?

Are the needles on the ends of the branches green with brown needles behind them? If so-probably no cause for great concern. Are some branches brown and others green-Not good. A picture would help greatly.
