What are the opinions out there on pipe location?

It is a more direct run to put the pipe out to the left, leaving a clear view of the bar, or not requiring feet holding the saw up off the ground so the pipe can pass under to the right.

However there is the issue of imbalance with a pipe hanging out to the left.

And if you go to the extra trouble of wrapping it around to the left, is there a loss in effect with all the bending required?

What is best? is it a compromise between all out engine performance and operablity?

I like the pipe on the right hand side. Probably because that's what the first saw I bought had. I have run a 3120 with a left hand pipe, and had balance problems.

As far as performance vs operability, I haven't seen any difference in performance rt vs left.
