My son and I want to plant a sprouting pecan in our backyard; we just need to know how deep to plant it, how often to water it,
and any other important information that may be crucial for it to at least have the opportunity to grow.

Probibly best to start it in a pot then transfer it outside when it has grown some. This will reduce the chances of it becoming critter food.

When you plant it spead the roots out so that it has as much area to absorb from as possible. Also get the roots at the base of the stem just below the surface so that none of th trunk is below grade.

Watering, treat like a potted plant. Maintain moist well drained soil conditions, dont let it get dry.
