Recall work on my MS461

I bought an MS 461 from a used equipment auction. It was formerly a Hertz Rental saw. I saw on here where the MS461 is currently under recall for possible fuel leaking problems. I called my local Stihl dealer and they told me to bring it in as long as I had the paper work. The serial number is within the recall range.

I never got anything specific in terms of paperwork. Only a general receipt that was "AS-IS". I'm not sure I can even find that. The auction is a reputable licensed firm. And they auctioned off probably more than a dozen rental saws from the local Hertz Rental so I know this is certainly not a stolen saw.

Should I need to provide original paperwork to get recall inspection?

Can you re-register a used saw?

Technically speaking as long as the saw is in the serial number range and hasn't been fixed by the recall already it shouldn't matter who owns it. I would show them what paperwork you do have though.

Stihl-Pioneer is correct as long as it falls into the serial number range you will be fine. It is a very quick process and quite painless.

If they hassle you then find a different dealer.
