Please HELP! I'm almost ready for the chain saw. I planted a 7 foot Red Bud 3 seasons ago . Last year, a few branches flowered, leafed, and then wilted. I was told by the arborist that it developed verticilian(? )wilt. I cut off the affected limbs and fertilized, sprayed etc. (looked great) This year, only 2 limbs show life. The remaining limbs are brittle and lifeless. Is there any hope? Could there be something else going on? I'd appreciate any input.

From your discription say good-bye. Vert. wilt is a soil borne disease that will continue to attack.

Plant another type of tree so you can break the cycle. Don't plant maple either.
