I Am putting together a list of safety instructions for new tree-workers.. and maybe put some basic safety tips together for new climbers...
I was thinking of the following areas... any other areas you might suggest or specific things that should be mentioned in any area would be appreciated.. Is there some reference material available on this subject?

This is a quick brainstormed list
of couse to include PPE

1, Drop zone violations.
a, awareness/ climber, hangers, deadwood
b, communication, call and response/ hand signals

2, chainsaw technique
a, stance/grip
b, kickback
c, tension/compression
d, springpoles

3, vehicles / positioning/ driving/ hand signals/ turns/trailers

4, wood and material handling

5, chipping

6, electrical hazards

7, Ropes and rigging

8,road traffic

9, equipment maintenance

10 basic felling
a, barber chairs
b open face notch
c humboldt
d, redirecting pull lines/ bowstringing

11, ladders

12, beestings

P.S. ANSI Z133 addresses a lot of this-though not in the most readable format.
 
I like Kenny's 911 card. includes adress of property and a checklist for the caller to go through with the operator "no electrical contact"....
 
Doesn't the NAA put out some sort of 2 - 4 page paper each month about basic safety / arboriculture issues? I think it is something like "arborist tailgate?"
