I don't understand why the 042 and 048 saws never received the popularity most other Stihl models have. State tree nursery where I used to work, they had an 048 and 056 super and I enjoyed running the 048 most often better. Went through many abusive operators and held up better then the 056 also well over a decade and was still going when I left. I used 042's a bit since and they felt little difference in power, handle a 24-5 inch bar well. More then likely that saw will pay for itself many times over and still be worth half that in parts saw condition.
