The 026 came out a couple of years after the 024.. It was touted as an "upgrade".. Unfortunately, I don't a have the exact info in front of me, so like Jeff, I'll guess and say 1988.

All I can confirm is that I sold my first 024 in late 82 or early 83, and there was talk of building a "super" or hotter version.

There was an 024 Super. Interesting, same bore, 2mm longer stroke. Same stroke as the 026 though. A true stepping stone.

There still is - just not in the USA any more. But it came out much later then the 026!

So Andy, are the 024 Super and the 026 the same lower end? The 024 Super has two bar studs right?

Yep! but you can put two bar studs on any 024... most have been upgraded...

I know I bought an 026 new in either 90 or 91 and they had been around a little while already.

That little sucker is still going pretty strong.
