ARBORICULTURE / URBAN FORESTRY POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Tenure Track Faculty Position: Arboriculture / Urban Forestry

APPOINTMENT: January 18, 2011
QUALIFICATIONS: Earned doctorate in forestry or closely related discipline is required by the start of the contract. Candidate is expected to meet
the physical requirements of the tree care industry and must possess knowledge of temperate tree species and culture.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preferred qualifications include previous experience in the tree care industry, undergraduate teaching,
independent research, and service experience. Candidates with knowledge and experience in sustainable management practices and newer
technology (GPS/GIS) are desired.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Candidate will teach arboriculture, dendrology, and urban forestry classes and IPM for ornamental/landscape plants.
Candidate is expected to provide visibility and leadership for the UF program, communicate and interact with the agriculture/horticulture
community, and conduct science/teaching based research. Candidate is expected to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal
skills with undergraduate students and serve on School of Agriculture, College, and University committees.

THE SCHOOL: The School of Agriculture (SOA) is one of eight departments in the College of Business & Technology and has 13 full-time faculty
positions. Approximately 330 students are majoring in Agriculture. Included on the SOA’s 3 farms are a tree nursery and horticultural plots; bull,
swine, and ram test facilities; a livestock center; a row crop test and demonstration plots, including an 80-acre organic research and
demonstration farm.
