Tree ID is this black locust (River Logs)?

Me & the wife were out enjoying the weather and walking the TN river shore down @ a local park today. I snapped some pics of these logs and was wondering about Wood/Tree ID... "Hard as Concrete, Tight End Grain!" & somebody's been cutting up a storm, there were chunks laying everywhere!

Most looks like black locust lying about...yet no bark, or leaves to help out.
Park Ranger says I can harvest as much as I like!

No idea on species. Looks like good heat, but probably harder to split, all twisty like.

Very familiar with BL in all conditions , excluding river beds My thought is no, Elm perhaps?

I think yes, BL. You'll know by rapping it with a dry piece of wood. BL will 'ring', elm will thud.

Heck yeah, go for it! You may sharpen your chain a bit more often, but cutting to burning in one day is great.

To me that is a 5&5 question. Give me 5 minutes with a saw and 5 minutes with a maul and I could give you an answer. Looking at the pics I'm pretty sure it's not all the same species.

Any thoughts on what species they may "possibly" be Red Elm?
I like that plan of action.
