the WJ117 i think isn't gonna be an easy find. out of all the 288/281/181 saws i ever owned the only one to ever have a WJ117 was on a 281 i sold to a member here. i assume they were very limited. i'm not a fan of the governor either and was pleasantly surprised to find the 117 on the 281. i would try swap a 394 carb onto it myself. likely just need to swap the throttle and choke shafts as i believe it is the same carb body as the 117 but with a larger venturi. just a matter of whether the tilly shafts are the same size or at least larger so you can drill the 39 to fit the tilly shafts. aWJ39 will certainly be alot easier to find.

You can get a hs228b or hs283b epa carb and they aren't governed like the hs 228a. Otherwise there is a fix to the governor. Do a search a 288 carb options in the chainsaw section and it should come up.
