Planted this guy 3 years ago has been growing fine. Last summer it lost all it's leaves prematurely then started growing them back end of summer. Winter passed and now spring is here and there is nothing happening. 2 weeks ago All the branches looked dead but I scratched the trunk and it is alive. The little branches are dry and seem dead.
Today I noticed buds coming from down low on the trunks but nothing up top and nothing on the branches. Any tips or suggestions? Am I overthinking this? I feel like the tree is almost starting over and I should trim it down.
