Hi Folks,

I recently purchased a gadget to monitor my outdoor wood furnace temperature.

Its actually a meat temperature monitor for meat smokers.

Check out maverickhousewares.com

Its a redicheck wireless temp monitor.

I attached it to the incoming pipe for my hot water. I can look at my temp in my kitchen so I know how to manage my ODF fuel etc. Its great to know the status any time.

The device uses AAA batteries. 2 in the receiver and 2 in the transmitter.
I put new dollar store alkaline batteries in it and it worked excellent for 28 days before the batteries were drained.

Super tool and works well for me. Good luck and stay safe.

Back in the 1980's when solar hot water was the rage thesystem my Mom and Dad had did have adigital display. It was mounted in the hall way of the house, it was a wired system though. I needed it for my OWB but my Mom had some interior work done and got rid of the system. It was made by CWS here in NC. It had 3 temperature zones for the solar collector, top, and bottom of the holding tank.

The price

I got it on ebay for around $30.

EDIT: The batteries lasted nearly a month before change was required. Affordable convenience in my opinion.
