I have a Wolf River Apple tree that I planted here in southern central NY
about 8 years ago and it has grown pretty good; but it has never even
blossomed! What do I need to do to get this tree to blossom and produce? Do I
need another tree to pollinate ? I have a Lawspur tree that has blossomed and
is showing signs of fruit, will this tree help pollinate the Wolf River? The
Lawspur is only 4or5 years old but it produced apples last year and they were
pretty good except for the green blotches. How do I get rid of green blotches?
Thanks for any help you can give me!

Hi,
It is possible that the Wolf River tree is not yet mature. It is a little late if it is 8 years old, but not unheard of. Otherwise, frost damage or fungus can cause bloom failure. Fungus damage would be obvious yellow spots. Frost damage would probably affect the Lawspur tree as well.
I am wondering if the trees are getting enough sun. Insufficient sunlight could cause the Lawspur apples to show a lot of green and slow the blossom development of the Wolf River.
Some possibilities. Any signs of disease on the Wolf River?
I can call a local man Monday who has Wolf River trees.
Mike
