Hey fellers, I'm trying to help someone with their saw. It's a McCulloch Wildcat equipped with a manual bar/chain oiler and it has excessive oil coming out of the bar port where it should but the problem is, you don't have to pump the "oil button plunger" at all, it heavily oils when the engine is running by itself.

Anyone seen this before? Thanks!

Yup, sounds like the automatic oiler needs adjustinng.

Remove the air filter cover and you'll see the oil pump forward of the carburetor.

The adjusting screw is near the center .... turn it clockwise a bit, maybe a 1/2 turn at a time until the flow is more to your liking.

:D

it's called an auto oiler. you may need to turn it down a bit. or put up with it if it isn't running out of oil before the fuel.

Found that this is a automatic with a manual override pump. I also found that some parts are missing out of the pump, primarily the oil flow/volume rate adjusting screw.

Thanks for the help fellows!

Guys, you won't believe this but I got a Mac 10-10A (cir 1972 best guess) last week. Got her cleaned up and running like a bat outa hell, but had the same problem with the oiler flow. I'll have it adjusted tomorrow. Think a collector might trade me a newer lighter saw for it? All original.
Thanks for the info.
