What's the big deal with the big dogs?

I've cut fir with bark anywher between 2 and 4 inches. Throw some giant Ivy on top of that and you can easily bury the 5" bottom dog on an aftermarket 090 dog.

What's the big deal with the big dogs?

Bad to lever a saw on the dogs? That is the only way to buck large, especially very large, West Coast logs, that is the only safe way to do it with gear drive saws period.

    Nik's Poulan Thread

My p51 balances neutral with a standard 32" Oregon bar and 3/8 chain. Its balance in much nicer than my 850 or 5400, it's also stronger.

Where's WYK been, and what trouble is he making?

Even the good areas of Portland are now dangerous. No consequences mean no real law. Bleeding heart progression hurts mostly the working class. Oregon City seems even worse than Portland. I know first hand how bad it's gotten driving public transit for over 32 years. I'll probably be retiring...

    Rotary Engine Chainsaw

My old KMS-4 sounded really strong but cut the same speed as my 3.7 Poulan, which weighed a lot less and cost $100 compared to the $$$. The rotary's are also a serious fire hazard in the woods. Great collector items, but thats about it.

    Is the MS460 Magnum Weak?

I don't know, but I suspect the 460 oiler will be pushed to oil a 36" bar. I know my ported 372's do oil and pull a 36" bar in any wood we have in the PNW very well. My early 046 is quite strong and runs a lightweight 28" as it's regular bar great. I doubt I'd run over 32" on a regular basis.

    Best Echo Chainsaw

+ 1 for the 2511, especially as you get older. That saw cuts way outside it's size class with the right chain and muff mod or non-epa muffler.

Where's WYK been, and what trouble is he making?

Ok, maybe a bit too similar to Portland. I've been wanting to do a deal where we trade US citizenships of lazy basement sitting Millennials and "Z'rs" with the hispanic workers we have, for a while now. We did have a small protest this past summer that involved a group of young girls protesting...

greenworks chainsaws: "pro" 80v vs "commercial" 82v

Greenworks has a new "70cc equivilant" 82v commercial saw named H.O.G.

Where's WYK been, and what trouble is he making?

Wes, it looks a like downtown Dublin was trying to imitate Portland a little bit. Just add meth, fentanol, and excess mental illness on the streets, and you'll be right proper.

    Homelite Chainsaws

    Those 925's cut REALLY nice.

Where's WYK been, and what trouble is he making?

Wes, if you get a chance, try a 2511 tophandle. Yery light and way more power than a 25cc saw ought to have. I'm told that the spank a 150 Stihl.

Stihl bar won't fit on Makita saw.

The 12" Stihl Picco bar worked just fine on my 36v Makita battery tophandle, without modification.

Want to Sell (3) McCulloch 3200/3516 saws $125

Normally i wouldn't pay attention to a homeowner saw like this, but a buddys son took down a very large and old cherry tree with a Mac 3216 as the only saw he had. It made quite an impression what a non-pro with common sense and a small saw can accomplish.

    Dolmar 133... really 10HP??

I'd like to know how a 133 compares with a p51. Maybe at next years PNW gtg i can find out. So far the P series 80cc saws seem to be at the top of the lune aa mine beat my 5400 by a bit and trounced my 5 cube 045 and 850.

    McCulloch Chain Saws

The rings likely took a set and need to be replaced. Working on those large frame Macs is quite a bit different than conventional saw engines. It isn't harder just different to work on. You do have to take the complete saw apart, but it's pretty easy.

I bought a Makita chainsaw today.

I have the 36v version and its controls are handy, but it weighs the same as my 200t and only has 192 power.

Pole Saw- Stihl HT 131- Any thoughts?

I have both, and both have their strong points. The 131 is a good machine, do not use the Cannon angle bar on undercuts to relieve tension. The saw will just Cat track backward.

What is this Black Walnut worth?

I may be wrong, but I believe the demand for high quality walnut gunstocks has gone way down as most purchasers, especially the younger generation, prefer the plastic/Kevlar stocks. Blanks of English walnut that were $2k thirty years ago were a tenth of that last I looked five years ago. I'm not...
