When you are skidding keep the parallelogram bar on the back side of the grapple. As you go forward a tree can break it at the pinn boss. Just watch out when you are backing up you dont hit it on a tree.
Whoo...... You all forgot the most important thing!!!!! You cant forget the consulting forester!! And I thought you all knew what you were talking about.....................
Thats the baby buncher.... Had a 411 you have to put a solid sheet of steel on the back roll bar it will keep tons of stuff of the machine. Put a set of tight ring chains on the rear will make a huge differance.
Try Tregaskis ins. they are about $14 dollars for every thousand of coverage. 315-497-0410 in Moravia NY. For my 88 slideboom its about $135.00 a year for fire theft vandalism with a $500 deductable.
I dont know anybody who would cut a job with less than 3-4 loads of logs on it. You cant afford to move equipment on a job and lose a couple of days doing the move.
The pumps are not the same on the cable or the grapple. There is no hydro tank on cable machines its in the tranny. Grapple has seperate hydro tank with a charge pump and a tandem hydro pump.
Go with a 100 to 125 ft 7/8 swedged to 5/8 cable. You will only need a ferral on the end you stick in the winch becuase you will tie a knot on the end with the sliders.
