STIHL MS 500i Oil Mix Ratio

Oil is cheap, I still use 16:1 in every 2 cycle , just retune the carb, btw, the oil does burn also, not just the fuel.

When did you first notice a change in quality?

Look at my old hometown, Baltimore, much less industry on the waterfront equals much less good jobs for locals equal loss of hope equals today's sad state. I just try to remember the good days only.

Inflation is really getting crazy, noticing the price of AW hydraulic oil , maybe I'll stock up on spares and never buy a new saw again?

    Hi, thanks again

Not an “oil thread” - just an availability question.

I am wondering the impact on grease availability due to the fire at the Chemtool plant (Lubizol) , I really like the various Berryman's products, this sucks.

    592xp? A rant.

Hey- can anyone estimate the power increase if you add a second exhaust outlet to a OEM 395xp muffler, stock 395xp is 7.1 hp, so would a muffler mod add to match the new 592 (7.6)? Does the saw weight really matter when using these bigger saws? Thanks in advance.

STIHL MS 500i Oil Mix Ratio

Everything 2 cycle I have gets 20 : 1 , just tune the carb a little richer, and equipment lasts longer, just my experience.

    Echo 620-PW...digital ignition?

I have a CS-600 from 2010 and the power band is much wider than my grey CS670 from 2008, the 670 you need to really listen to the rpm and not dog it at all, it cuts well when you get used to that.

Mix ratio -- observing the blue smoke

Hey, back when I was in high school, we all used Belray mc1 in a round pint bottle. LOTS of blue haze. I read that the oil companies used a base oil called bright stock, now they use a base called PIB, a type of ester . Less haze and clean burning.
