    OWB installing heat exchanger location

Jay, My water heater is electric and I have a side arm. The high temp limit switch tripped once but I didn't notice it of course until I shut down my OWB for the summer and the supply of hot water went south. Pulled the access cover off and pushed the reset button and I was back in business...

    OWB installing heat exchanger location

I kinda did the same thing. More for maintenance and so I could bypass the HX. I have a single loop so this lets me bypass the HX and still supply the side arm on my hot water heater. I have unions at the HX for removal if necessary but I haven't had any issues leaving it installed. The air...

    Stinging Thorns?

http://www.lni.wa.gov/Safety/Research/Dermatitis/EdMat/PhytoSlides/ Website is for Washington state but most of the plants are common across the U.S. Some of the slides show what the skin looks like after contact.

    Life lessons cost money...

Interesting read. Most people seem to like them but as with anything, someone will not. I always used needle nose pliers to insert the wires taking care not to damage the insulation. It is a little difficult to insert the wires all the way by hand and it begins to make your fingers sore after...

I use Wago wall-nuts. These things are great. They have 2, 4, 6 and 8 wire versions that I know of.

    It pays to have permission

Having permission does not make you an honest trustworthy individual. I am not directing this toward the person who started this thread or anyone who has responded but just stating that you have to be weary of everyone. As a landowner you will be exposed to countless stupid people who...

Power went out; CB 5036 water level raised 1/2"

You are absolutely correct. I overflowed the boiler I had before this one for that reason. For the initial fill on the 5036, I kept the water level about an inch below the full mark on the sight tube. I started a small fire and brought it up to operation temp. very slowly keeping an eye on the...

Power went out; CB 5036 water level raised 1/2"

You may be on to something but now that I think about it, I probably did not get all the air out when I filled it in November. I bled the lines properly after the power outage so even with the loss of a couple of gallons it could still read a little higher. I guess I didn't take into...

Power went out; CB 5036 water level raised 1/2"

No check valves that is why I think the water might have backflowed. Why would the water level raise from a boil over? It should go down due to less water in the system.

Power went out; CB 5036 water level raised 1/2"

I can't figure this one out. Power went out in the early a.m. a few nights ago for about 2 hours. When I got up in the morning, the pump had started up, the house was at the correct temperature and everything seemed normal. When I went out to check on the boiler I noticed some water had...

    ms290 + $240 = ms361

Holy cow Scott, you were right! I just looked at some competed listings on ebay and a slightly used (add says pristine) 290 sold for $337 + $30 shipping. A new one didn't meet the reserve but was bid up to $338.33 with $40 shipping. Both ended just a few days ago. I had no idea people would...

    ms290 + $240 = ms361

Good point. If I was seriously considering the $300 trade-in allowance (still trying to decide) then it would be worth it to "explore" the ebay option using a $300 reserve. Warranty is not an issue on the 290. I am a Jr. so it is already registered in my name more or less. You guys are good...

    ms290 + $240 = ms361

Well no, I didn't think he would do it for nothing unless he was just a really nice guy :dizzy:. I just figured a dealer would make more on the sale of a ms361 than a ms290. And since the 290 is supposedly their best moving saw then he would be able to turn it around quickly. So here's what...

    ms290 + $240 = ms361

Thanks everybody for the feedback. Sounds like the pro saws are made to run all day without wearing you out as bad. I've had an 026 for 15+ years and it has never let me down. Starting to cut more wood again so I have been looking for a second larger saw. Out of the blue my dad decided to...

    ms290 + $240 = ms361

I first thought the overall weight would be alot less on pro saws but that doesn't seem to be the case. Anyone else have any insight on why Stihl pro saws are so much more expensive than their mid-range models?

Thanks for the link. Holy cow, that guy does some weird stuff with wood.

    ms290 + $240 = ms361

Why does the MS361 cost so much more than the MS290? I know mid-range vs. pro but I dont see $240 worth of differences in the specs.
