    RIP: Nik aka Fatguy

Thanks for posting these Chris. Some of my best gtg memories are from Gregg's. I don't know that I've ever seen the last pic, with me, Nik, and Jim (w8ye). I still have that 1020xp I bought from you (it might have been this gtg actually). Man those were good times, never know how good they are...

Should have never sold my Echo 8000

8000 is the only saw that I have ever owned... that would start and run on the first pull every single time (not a pop, not a few second run and another pull later). I dont really know why it did, it just did. Echo has made plenty of good stuff, but the 8000 definitely is one of the best.

The Zama came later on, I don't know what the reason was for the switch.

Chinese replacement carb for 1998 Husqvarna 55--is there one?

The Chinese carbs aren't an unknown. There are gobs of them out there in use. By all means, rebuild the one you have for the experience... but if you are scared of getting a bad am carb off of ebay (less than 13 dollars including shipping), I will be more than happy to buy it from you if it...

Chinese replacement carb for 1998 Husqvarna 55--is there one?

Don't be afraid to buy an A/M carb for your 55. I was leery of non oem carbs, until I starter using them. I have rebuilt many carbs, and replaced many. Rebuild kits are no guarantee, but I have yet to get a bad A/M carb (not saying they aren't out there). They're cheap, grab one and chime back...

    Sold Stihl 084av like new!

OP, Id call the law and report it before someone else does- It would look a lot better on you. I understand your intent may not be wrong, but this wouldnt go well for you in court if someone made a deal about it. Who knows, explain the situation to your local LE- at least take the liability from...

This is Why I Hate Oak

I agree that Black Locust is superior, but I have found them to put out comparable heat (when the oak is very well seasoned).... I think that there are natural oils or something in black locust that make it burn so well (similar to hedge), with short season times. Just a guess though. If I never...

This is Why I Hate Oak

Great thread, I am with you 110%. I love some good seasoned 2-3 year oak, but to me.... space is valuable and it flat out isn't worth the fuss. I have burned so much EAB white ash and black locust, maybe I'm spoiled. I can cut, split, and stack and be under 20% with either wood in less than a year.
