    Military History Buffs......Chainsaw Help Needed

I seen a Vietnam war show on AHC channel and the troops were using a big yella Mac. They appeared to be setting up a fire base on a mt. top. The troopers were using the big Mac to clear out a tangle of logs that looked like they'd been flattened by a "daisy-cutter". Maybe circa '68 to '70 by...

    562XP Snapped Muffler Screw

Drill it as close to dead center as possible and use an easy out. Also clean it up after drilling with spray carb cleaner and comp. air, then heat it up and melt some wax down in the hole before you try to extract the stub. Wax works as a penetrating lube and helps getting to break free.

    Sold Husqvarna 395XP (2005) $600.

Jon's a great guy. I spoke with about quail hunting back when he lived in Cali. For what it's worth remember to add 15% to the compression readings to make up for the difference in altitude. (21psi)

    Stihl 090 for sale...$2250???

I've found that more modern saws generally out perform older iron. A 3120 or 088 would be faster and lighter.

    How sharp is sharp?

I sharpen here about once an hour using just an Oregon file guide, take about ten minutes for a full comp 20" or 24" Saves alot of time cutting thru the wood. And I usually need a water break in an hour anyway.

    Husky 385 is fried.

Sorry to hear of your pin bearing failure. I would also go with a factory bearing after having a failure like that. I've never had a pin let go, I'm also on 32:1 full synth oil and muff mods on everything.

Check to see if all of the circlips are on the ends of the piston pin as sometimes the ends of the circlips will break off at the bend..... ask me how I know.

I also block off the governor as it makes them much easier to tune. I use a 6mm remington cartridge case as a punch (.243 win. or any of the .25 calibers will also work)

How in the world am I supposed to get this off?

I use a rope down the spark plug hole. I've heard of piston stops bustin' a hole in the top of the piston. I use a breaker bar with a spark plug deep socket that has thirds of it cut away to make a three pronged clutch removal tool. Then I have at it with a 1/2 drive breaker bar.

Early VW fuel injection on rabbits etc used alot of metal banjo fittings. Two or three different sizes. They are in the range of what might be needed.
