some review vids I did on the 32" bars... speed, temp, balance, flex, oiling, tune

32" Stihl light bar 050
32" stihl ES bar 063
32" tsumura light bar
32" sugihara Light bar

most interesting of all probably - differences in temperature after cutting
coolest - in bold temps are the ~avg.

Jug/cyl temps
-
Stihl ES reg bar 063 - 331 F
Stihl ES Light bar 050 - 353 F
Sugihara Light 063 - 335 F
Tsumura Light 063 - 315 F

temp of bar just after spikes (mount area) -

Stihl ES regular bar 063 - 188 F
Stihl ES Light bar 050 - 206 F
Sugihara Light 063 - 147 F
Tsumura Light 063 - 157 F

Stihl ES regular bar 063 - 175 F
Stihl ES Light bar 050 - 195 F

Tsumura Light 063 - 94 F

difference in speed using new Stihl RS chains for each bar
oak(2 cuts) then cherry is the 3rd time listed.
stihl es reg bar 063 - 22.6 22.8 39.0
stihl es light 050 - 24.6 24.4 44.7
sugihara ligh 063 - 21.9 21.7 38.0
tsumura light 063 - 21.0 21.2 39.3

how each flexes ...rigidity

if the tune changes on each

how each balances on a 660

I put a 28 es light 050 and 28 063 light up against each other and they pretty much cut the same times, held the same temps, ...pretty much the same at everything.

The only thing I didn't do and it's kind of hard as the wood changes etc. Would compare the two after multiple cuts..like say 12 in a row. The theory there would be that since all the 3003 s1 stihl bars I went through measured in at approx .1875" thickness that possibly since the there would be less meat on the rails of a 063 bar one might be able to argue that the 063 bars ran hotter. But you could counter that argument with the theory that the 063 bars carried more oil. lol

So basically I sh*t canned that idea.

Kinda had to many bars as it was lol

I would guess the Stihl bars are more stingy with oiling. It's something I notice when I use some of them. I wonder - could I get you to do a test with rapeseed/canola oil VS standard oil?

Also, Tsumura and Sugi are mass-produced. It's just not the same scale as Stihl.

I suspect the groove specs. play into this. Take any measurements on the bars and chains?

groove depths

tsumura light bar - .3850"
stihl light bar - .3100
stihl reg bar -.3100
sugi hara - .3225

thickness
tsumura light - .2025"
stihl light bar - .1875
stihl reg bar -.1875
sugi hara - .1890"

in 28" I did. total and tsumura basically same speed, basically same temp if I remember right, cannon narrow a touch slower & cannon wide a touch faster, but same temp. all 3 are awesome. (tsumura total cannon)

Did you get a chance to compare the Tsumura to that Cannon or the Total?

-------------------

the way I understand it...

Total = made by Tsumura and is pretty much just .050 (for stihl) and is a solid regular weight bar...no light bars.

Tsumura makes solid bars as well and are generally .063 (for stihl)

Tsumura then makes the light bar which is only 063 (for stihl)

specs on a ton of bars etc go here - http://www.arboristsite.com/community/threads/bar-data-picture-thread.265892/

There's a ton of total labeled ones in husky mount in .058" also.
