Speaking from personal experience and from observation of other AS members, the number of saws one owns has very little to do with whether one is a "professional" cutter.

For 9 years the old 346xp was my one saw, and it did / still does it all

The most saw for your money almost has to be a Makita 6401. Not only is the price good, but it has to be one of the strongest, if not the strongest 60cc class saw on the market. Then on top of that, you have the option of turning it into the strongest 70-80cc class saw on the market, with nothing more than a P&C swap.

Yeah, pretty much. Up until two days ago, I only had one saw and I've been working as a cutter for over a year.
