Same height but the SS SE is longer for more strength. The cutting edge is the same. Just a bigger piece of steel behind the wedge. Plus the cutting edge is a much harder metal. Don't remember what the split second engineer told me what it was. But they tested it to know the exact metal type.

Top picture is SS SE bottom picture is SS HD

Only differences are the bigger motor, 100 lb fly wheel weights, stronger wedge, bigger belt and welded bearings .

But there is a difference in splitting. You will notice it in elm, dry walnut and notty wood. The SS SE has the power to cut through most wood not just split.

The wedge on the SS HD and SS SE are one inch taller than the SS J
