I thought about that, but it looks like shingle oak leaves are pretty waxy. These are not (but then, maybe they will get that way later - it's early spring after all). These are also fairly light on the underside of the leaves.
I think you're right - there's another pic that showed some red inside - I knew that was from something, but I couldn't remember what. I've never had any before. Now I know.
Durn it - I was hoping for something with better BTU's.
1 box elder, they always remind me of like poison ivy leaves 2 I was guessing an oak, but didn't know what kind, we have some around here with those leaves but I never knew the proper name.
Leaves look like Black Cherry and the flower stems after the cherry fruit has fallen off.
Only other leaves looking like that could be laurel Oak, but I'm not sure of what the nut or flower on them looks like.
