I hope this question hasn't already been asked but I would like some input. I currently have a model 51 that I have used for about 12 years and it is still going strong. I want to step up a level or two and get a pro level saw.

Yep, 372 would be my choice. The new edition 575 supposed to have more power and less weight vs the old edition, but the jury is still out on it I believe. You can modify the muffler on the 372 and get more power out of it too, not so with the stratified 575.

my 2c,
Ian

372xp is the best saw I ever bought. I more or less gave it to my father-in-law, so soon I may be in the market for another one. Or maybe I will go with a 2171.

By all means don't buy a 575xp!

Get a 372xp, or wait for the improved 576xp.

Th 372 is more than a level or two!!

I considered the 575XP when I bought my 372XP but the general feeling was that it wasn't quite there yet in it's development. I most definitely don't regret my decision to buy the 372XP!

But there are other choices that are also a step up from your 51. . . The NE346XP Husky would be one step up from your faithful 51 and would amaze you by comparison, the 357XP would be two steps up, and still be a pleasure to handle - especially if you like the feel of your 51, and the of course, the 372XP will BLOW YOUR SOCKS OFF!

I have the slightly bigger brother to your 51, the 55, as well as the NE346XP and 372XP and I can say there is a huge difference between all three saws. Haven't run the 357XP but there's a lot of room between the 346XP and 372XP performance-wise, so it probably fills that gap really well.

Good luck on your decision!

Al

Interestingly enough those 575's command a good price in the used market place. Wonder why?

I've never used one. I have used a 372 and it's predicessor the 272.

You would think with all the terrible online reviews those 575's would go for scrap prices.

One suprising thing I have experienced is a rebuild and warmed up old husky 61. Build by a shop motorcycle mechanic who has built race bikes and quad motors for years...he found an old 61 for cheap and a new barrel and piston online cheap....did some standard matching of castings as he's done of motorcycle two strokes for years and muffler mods as found online...very suprising results. Just goes to show rebuilding can be fun and rewarding.

Before I buy a new 372 I think I'll find an old 365 and build it to a 372.

I bought a JRed 2171 (same saw as the 372XP) because my 372XP is such a great saw, and also because I'm partial to 70cc saws. I will probably buy one more of either model before they disappear forever. Can't compare the 575XP because I've neve used one, but hard to believe its better than the 372XP.

I hear people on here talking about how bad the 575 is and mabye the 575ne (576) will be much better. What improvement over the current saw is everyone waiting for? Why is the 575 "medium rare" and what do you expexct to see in the final edition 575/576?

Very soon, at least in some parts of the US, according to Spike60........;)

372 or 575

I am still fighting with husky over my 575,no customer support. This is my 3rd husky and the only 1 I have had problems with,I have heard several other people complaining about this model.
My 575 still stalls out after it gets hot and sometimes takes 5--20 pulls after to get it started.I have had it to the shop 5 times 3 carb adjustments a new ignition, and a new carb!!!!!!!
I haven't had this saw 2 years yet!!!!!
I have talked to husky and they don't do exchanges on saws, only repairs, i might as well have talked to the wall.
They said it is between the repair shop at husky and my dealer.

I told husky if it doesn't get fixed this time i am switching to a johnny or a dolmar,I have run them and like them, and I think I am going to switch!

If I were you with the new epa reg's stealing power and reliability from their saws,I would look at another brand of saw.
This is just my opinion.

I currently own a new 575 XP and I love it. Best saw I have ever owned. A friend has a new 372XP and i was not impressed with the way it cut or the way it handled. I much prefer my 575XP
