Thanks to AS member Epicklein22 (who sent me the link and a heads up) I now have an echo 1001 bought from a craigslist wash. DC listing. It has a 48" bar and new semi chisel chain, tons of comression and runs like a top. It appears to have had very little use. The guy that sold it to me was a 70 yr. old plumber who bought the saw to cut som stormfalls out of his driveway. Iam very pleased. Any way I am hoping that a few members here could help me with a couple of parts. I need a pair of bucking spikes and the muffler cover. I don't know why he took the muffler cover off as the muffler still has the original finish on it, but he could not find it. Any help would be appreciated. I would like to use it this year to bring the firewood and some milling. This is my first echo by the way.

Lets see this bad boy.
Congrat's on a nice purchase.

This is none of my business
but you may want to reconsider
what your plans are for the saw
as parts are very hard to find as
well as the saw itself.

Wanna race my 1100VL?
I just had to rub that in.

Cheers Lee

With my 090, sure.
With my 750 homie, sure.

Don't worry if I do use it, it would be in rotation with a few others saws I have aquired recently and need run time too. So it would not be abused by any means.

Your a good man Hoss.
When was the 1001 made
Is it newer than the 1100.
I see Bobs post and maybe parts
are still available. I have only
seen one other 1001 for sale so
they must be somewhat hard to find.
I tried to get a couple small parts for
the 1100 and no good.

If we race can i break out one of my 166's

Now that's just hittin below the belt.:)

I just might have something that's up to the challenge.

Any of you echo fans know where I can find a model CS 802 for sale. That is an echo that I would like to have too, aside from Lee's big monster.

There is a guy on the "other" saw forum with a CS-80 and he lives in Japan. I think that is the oldest Echo model with the CS-60S next.
The CS-802 model looked like the typ CS-701 and CS-601 from the early days...Bob

Good to hear everything went well Hoss. I can't believe I passed that one up, my brother would have gotten it for me.:hmm3grin2orange: Atleast I know it has a good, proper home. I think some pictures will be needed to make the echo haters jealous.

CS-802, i cleaned up a clean low hours one last winter at work, wicked bad mofo saw, has a 28" solid tip bar on it, .404 full comp, new clutch spur, I put new fuel line on it and totally cleaned it up and repainted the gas tank cover black, and sprayed some clear over the original orange paint and decals to preseve them. Cleaned and sanded down the bar and gave it a coat of semi-gloss black. Handfiled the chain. Painted and cleaned up the muffler, fixed a small problem with the recoil so it grabbed harder..Then I split some big oak with it.

It sat 6 months after that, and started on 3 pulls when I pulled it back out at work. Idles clean and smooth, revs up no problem.

I could buy it for probably 100-150, maybe 200 bucks.

But no one on here really seemed all that impressed when I asked about it so I backburnered the idea...Started swooning over a CS-6700 Timberwolf.

Was the 802 a good saw, is it rare? I know its freakin heavy as lead!

Now you know folks are intersted so I assume you will find the saw and pop up some pics.

If it is still around please see if it can still be purchased as I would be happy to lift that leaden saw. Let me know. Thanks.

Oh its still around, I see it every day at work..lol

Its not much for chain speed, although it does spin up pretty good...but I couldnt slow it down as hard as I tried.

I have to admit, pulling it over it feels like its totally clapped out, minimal compression. but slap the gauge on it, and I recall 175psi...Probably the giant flywheel it has?

Boss did say He'd sell it to me a while back but we never really talked price...Ill have to give it a go.
