not so much when it comes to burning it but accounts for the reason I,m so painfully slow in stacking it.

I do pick the peices I want but I usually mix it up when stacking so I get all types of peices to bring it.

I aint picky when i am filing the rack by the door, but when bringing in wood to the house, I usually pick out EXACTLY what I want.
This is often modified depending on several factors.
If I am barefoot, snow on the ground, wearing articles of clothing that i would rather that my neighbors didnt see me in, etc.

Learned my lesson last winter.Ran outside early in the morning wearing nothing but a pair of boxers.Snatched some wood and hauled butt for the house.Didnt even make the door before I realized that the nieghbor gal was walking on the road back from the mailbox.Thankfully I hadnt taken the time to sort out that arm load of wood, all she got was a quick peek!

I'm sure she was thankful you prefer boxers over briefs.

I can just imagine what she must've said when she got in the house. "Hey I just saw avalancher in his undies handling his wood."

 I'm the same way when getting my firewood...including the "depending on several factors" part. I haven't got caught out like you did though.

Everytime I go to the woodshed this time of year I sort out the hickory and oak for next year, picking out the junk to burn now. Burning swamp maple and tulip popular, some old rotted ash.

LMAO........I am finding myself do the same:dizzy: When it was cold, I grabbed arms full, now that it is warm days and cold nights, I find myself picking thru the stack.

I must be around the wife to much:cry:

Not to worry, it's 'normal' for us. What is to worry about is if you go out to inspect the wood pile, move a piece here and there, etc...Oh, if you stop by, I'll be out by the woodpile.
