Old, big, heavy, loud saws that I remember from my youth, and first days in the woods make me smile... :) and my back ache, arms hurt, and hands go numb...

Those old monsters (Big Macs Homelites and Stihls) are what I'm on the hunt for now... Yep... I wikes 'em. :)

HAHA..... CHainsaws did not become more than tools to me.... i am the same way with tools.... :hmm3grin2orange:

When I got my first non-Mac, a Husky 385XP. It was the "Interim" saw to my habit. The torque response and the strong engine got me. That's been awhile though, I wasn't addicted at that time. Just had a bunch of Macs, a Poulan, and then that Husky. Still I thought of them as tools. A month ago while searching for parts for my Mac's, I got bit somehow and it just kept a hold. Now for some reason i've gained more respect for the saw than I ever thought I would. I love the old Mac's even more, now. But like them all.

The day I married in 1981 ,friends gave me as present my first chainsaw,
it was a Mc Culloch PM610

How do you feel now? I will have 20 married years in April, going for another 20, Annie is still happy to see me, that's what is important to me.
Well ,after 28 years of marriage we still love each other ,we have 3 children
and within plus minus 15 days we become grandparents.

Back when I was a little kid watching my Dad and Grandpa cut wood together. I couldn't wait to cut with them, but I was only 4 or 5 at the time.

Cutting wood back then was an event. Wish I could have those days back...

Only recently since i fitted a wood stove. I had always seen saws as something dangerous to be avoided but i needed one to cut wood so took the plunge
Bought all the ppe straight off and a used mac.

I found it a fun thing straight away and since have bought three stihls and as well as needing to go out and cut wood, i enjoy cutting wood. Treat them with a healthy amount of respect as although i no longer avoid them they are still dangerous.
When i sold my old spare 026 to my fil i practically mourned its passing. We`d been through a lot:complete rebuild;porting;muffler mod;mucho sawn wood. I handed it over to fil with sage words of advice similar to someone handing over a favouite gundog. Plus instructions to return it whenst it came if he no longer wanted it.
I now know a saw is more than just a tool to be flung in the shed.

More than a tool? In 1983 when I bought my first saw of my very own. We burned wood throughout the 70's and I learned on my Dad's Pioneer Holiday 2 and an ancient Remington that weighed about as much as I did. When I got out of the Corps I went back to the firewood, only as a business. The old Pioneer didn't hold up well and I started looking for a "real" saw. I lucked onto the local McCollugh/Homelite dealers personal 7-10 that he'd just rebuilt and paid the princely sum of $150.00 hard earned dollars. THAT was a SAW!!!! It became an object of pride and affection and I still miss that saw. It finally gave up the ghost after 10 hard years when I lent it to my father in law, a man not known for his abilities with mixing gas. She bit the dust and as I was wrenching on saws part time I unwisely sold her off, bit by bit.

Someday maybe I'll find another.

Well....

I resurected (sort of) the old JD 55V that my dad bought when I was a kid to cut some stuff at my mom's house this fall... I'm a total gearhead so anything with a motor thrills me. Cut some wood...good excercise. Found this sight, got my 361 in December...rest has been downhill FAST!

Just got a 460 last week!
