That would be cool! We should have a tach available, I have 24inch ash down right now ...maybe a video camera?

So who is going to hold up the Stihl end of this bargin? I haven't heard much from that brand yet. I COULD have a friend (Very rough around the edges) show with a 064, 028's (a couple of itterations), 310, and some oldies...but he's a little "enthusiastic" and will spend the entire time convincing you all to melt your Swedish iron & plastic down, sent over seas; so it can be reformed into a real (Stihl) saw! He's like a rough version of Aqua logger. (no kidding!) :jawdrop: He's "50/50" right now. His initials are as Aqua..JS

Most of my Stihls have issues and are waiting until I get a job and can afford to fix them. I did get the 2095 running today, re gapped the coil and that seemed to fix the stalling problem. The recoil kept giving me hassles, but once I get that together the only thing left is fixing the kill switch.

The one Mac I'd love to bring Is a SP81, but the A/V's on it are shot, and I've got no clue where to get new ones. Plus it needs carb work, I'm sure, B+C, etc. A

Try this guy for Mac parts. Probably fairly close to you as well.

He's that older fella who's also fanatical about bicycle riding. He takes these impossibly long bicycle trips!....I think Motomedic & I are going to run the motorcycles out there for a destination. He's got a barn full of NOS McCulloch stuff (And Homie stuff as well) Also a place for Pioneer parts. I plan to get a top end for my 797 from him next time I'm out there..stash it for when I'm done milling and want to restore that old saw.

A great place to go! He's also a Solo dealer. The only one I've ever seen!

One thing that would be fun if we have members who also ride road bikes...is have destinations to visit and have mini gtg's at those places...(find a local Denny's or something after visiting a place like Bob's Lawnmower Service...with TONS of project saws!)

So list them with what they need. You never know, you might be able to trade stuff around and end up at a better place! Trade & barter are wonderful ways of moving a hobby in the right direction.

I think the idea of a mini-gtg incorporating motorcycles is a great idea!
They could be pretty much short notice, and no prep work. We could just meet up, ride to some saw orientated location, yak about saws for a while, get dinner( yak about saws some more), then head home. Works for me.

ROAD is FIXED!

Pulled out that culvert & shook out the beaver sticks & mud..stuffed it back in the washout and put fabric around the section ...covered it with shales ...and goop. It will dry out and be good enough. Holds my 26,000lbs hoe fine..I packed it in with that old hoe..

As soon as the salt is gone.....lets do just that. Start with Bob's unless you know of a similar place .

Thanks for the Info, Spike. I really want to get the SP81 going. Have to see what else it be needing. Have to give that guy a call.

I'm game for some riding this summer to hunt for parts. Good way to combine two of my favorite things, or three if eating good food is included.

If I can today I'll get a better list of what I've got to swap or needs parts for.

Start tracking the weather on www.weather.com for zip 13045.

Its looking better! Actually looks better now than it did yesterday's weather forcast. Now there is a "sun" on sunday!

Yeah, I've already been doing that on the NWS/NOAA site, and things are lookin' up! Guess I'm looking forward to the trip, huh?

I will try and remember to bring a tach along, as well as a can of carb spray and some penetrating oil for stuff that hasn't been run in a while. Pretty much going to pack a first aid kit for saws. I suppose that BloodOnTheIce and me can be the official "techs on duty" for the event. I probably have some Husky hats I can bring, but I don't think I have any T-shirts laying around.

I may also be dragging another member, the elusive Barney34 along. Great saw guy and a 1ST class tech as well.

How about a list of who's attending so far?

You (Spike), Myself(weime), Two locals (not board members), "Motomedik", "Blood", "Chainsaw Whisperer", "Will Saw (For beer)", "the westspartan", "millman", "Zercool", "J. Walker"

Also possibly "JS NY", and real slim possiblity of "motoroilmccall"

So around 12 to 14 at this point. I'm pretty certain it will be past ten but not 15..there are a few others who have "PM'ed" interest but haven't made definite plans.

Might want to start planning what to bring as well. I plan to provide the following:

a) Three area's to saw logs cleaned up to this point, one with Poplar, one with a large Ash, and one with a few 12"-15" Dia maples...Could add another. (I posted pics of the Poplar & Ash)

b) At least one hay wagon with a tarp for a dry work area..will put a "milled" hard maple board across for a bench and some other amenities...lol Another hay wagon for another surface to either work or simply to keep stuff off the ground.

c) A compact tractor & chains to drag & move stuff. Also have a "fire pit" should it make sense to have one.

d) Tools...I keep a fairly complete set up on the hill for summer farm activities. I will also have a decent "multi-meter" (used for tractor lighting usually! Works well for testing coils)

If any ladies are going to attend..I WILL get a pota- poty but you HAVE to let me know. Other wize its trees and T-paper!

I believe Motomedik will have some tools as well...possibly his tach. CAN'T have too many so bring whats familiar!

One of the other fellows (local) has a "pop-up" tent (With Husqvarna Banners) to add to the mix.

So list whats needed for food & stuff along with who's going to provide..I can help there I guess. Just need to know who's planning to bring what.

We will need:

Food. Stuff to drink. Possibly a stove. Water. Maybe another tent. First Aid kit...and interesting saws & folks.

What would be good for me to bring? Obviously beer for me and enough so a few people can grab a couple. What about some seasoned cherry and red oak for the fire? My money situation might be a bit rough if I don't get my state tax refund this week, so if I could contribute stuff like that it would work out well for me. I could bring some food too, hopefully somebody has some venison they'll bring.

The 026 is in pieces waiting for me to take it to the dealer and have him pull the flywheel. It needs to be vac/pressure tested and almost definately needs new crank seals. The 034 and 038 mag need crank seals too, I think? They don't always do it, but sometimes when turned on their side they don't idle right. It'll be awhile before I get to them and get em tore down and fixed.

In terms of my Huskies, the 240s needs a fuel line, and the 268 has weird sized holes for the carb adjustments so the only way I can tune the carb is with the recoil cover off- the carb tool that works for everything else for some reason is too big.

The 630 JRed needs crank seals and a tank vent. The 2095 is a hell of a runner, I just need to solder the kill switch wire back on and actually sit down and get the recoil working right instead of just half assing it.

I plan on bringing my hillbilly rebuild 55 and probably the 2095, I know everybody wants to see a 2095...

Bringing:
- 10x10 canopy/awning
- can bring coleman camp stove if needed
- cooler o' beverage (alc and non-)
- decent basic trauma kit is in truck, let's not use it?
- whatever tools are in my truck box (axe, chains, come-along, misc hand tools)
- MS180, 024AV
- I'll put the water tank back in the truck and top that off - 20gal ought to be enough for drinking, yeah? :)

Yeah... If its this coming weekend it ain't gonna work... I have a couple big jobs that are gonna spill over to the weekend without doubt. But if it rains and gets pushed back I'll try to schedule around it. Gotta have a few of you guys try the 044, its stopping in the cut if I dawg it in... Can't tell if the clutch is bad, the compression is low (I busted my gauge), or whatever. Seems like its running rich, but its at one full turn out, and with the DP cover I don't want to lean it out too much...

Its been a great saw, but it might be time for a new P&C.

I have received some donations so there's going to be a drawing for fabulous prizes.
If Barney 34 shows up, I hope he'll bring that sweet 395xp.

I'm sure he will. That and a 2094, an 066, and a 3120. He's not into small saws. A 372 is about as small as he likes to go. LOL
