Three problems with the 262:
1) The ignition coils seem to go out regularly
2)They develop air leaks and run like crap about this time in their life.
3) They use the small Husky bar mount.

I love them, I think they are about the best sized saw for firewooding. Light, nimble and powerfull!

Yep that small mount is a PITA I cant get a bar in 0.063"

And that bloody outboard clutch makes fitting chains a pain with an 8 pin rim.

Never really ran mine stock, But its my fave saw now!

scotclayshooter, I would like a .063 bar for mine too. I have a 261 and a 262 piston I was planning to install and do a little port work on. It will be my first attempt!

I think you can forget that plan! At least in 3/8" I have a spare small and large mount husky bar so im going to have look to see if it can be done!
I have square chain in 0.063" Grrr

You may want to ask Tree Sling'r how he modified a large mount to fit the small mount pattern. I sent my 357 to him without the bar, and he was able to do something to his large mount and let it fit.

I did ask in that thread:cry:
If the oil holes are close it shouldnt be a challenge.

You not sold that 455 yet?

For a few test cuts I can imagine it works with a little creativity, but I doubt the bar oiling will work properly.

Hello all,
Does anyone know if the older Husky 262 is a good saw? Is 200$ a good price? Thanks

If thats the one I see on kijiji its pretty rough lookin and I see the throttle lock out spring is broke or something. If I was closer I would go look at it cause if it still has decent compression it probably worth it. But seeing as though I am 2 hours away and it looks very "Well Used" I decided not too.

Well Manual if your reading this thread, I want my 262 back. You have had it for over two years now! Finish the saw and ship it back! Karma.... Think about that every time you go up in a plane.......

Sorry about your 262 J! That is a big loss!!!

I'm still trying to get Ultra to turn loose of the hopped up 180, or the zebra Johnsie, or, or......................
