I was thinking of getting a 460, but then the 441 has been growing on me and I've read some good things about it. Also, it seems to me the 441 would be a better choice for a saw that I'll keep for a long time (being that it's new technology)? Or is it better to get the old tried and true before it's no longer available??
Prices at my dealer are very close ($30 more for the 460).

The 460 is proven and has more power for the same weight. The 441 is more fuel efficient and has better AV. I wish I could be more helpful, but I think they are both great saws and only you can decide between the two.

What about the thought that the 441 is the "1st wave" of new saw tech and next year they'll come out with a more refined design? (or a 461...)

This saw is much more a "want" than a "need". If I decide on the 441, maybe it would be better to wait a little while to see what's around the corner?...

A couple days ago there was a huge long thread about the 441 vs the 460. Everyone has their own opinion of what is better than the rest. I think it is personally up to you. check it out there are many good point in it for both sides. Steve :chainsawguy:

If you're not in dire need of a saw of that size and can wait it out for a few months I would suggest you wait for the 461. I think it will be interesting to see if it is simply a slightly larger version of the 441 or if they will make additional revisions and or improvements to the design of the 441. In the event that it is the same, you will have had several months to ponder the decision between 441,461 and 460.

But isn't the 441 pretty proven at this point too. I've read several comments that it will out cut the 460 (some even said it was close to keeping up with a 660?..)
Sure wish I had a dealer that was able to let me try both...

That's what I was hoping to do, but it seems that nobody knows if the 461 is coming anytime soon...

May well be a good idea, I sort of felt like that all the way regarding the 441 - and the 576xp already is out......;)

I was gonna wait on a 441 or like. Then mid-winter got to me and I got itchy and got a 441. First week or so, weather was pretty bad and I didn't get to run it and I got to wishing I hadn't spent the money. Then the weather cleared some and I have run it and am really happy I went ahead and got the thing. I bought it to use "now and then," but right now I'm turning to it 90% of the time. If I had to choose only one saw to keep, I would keep the 441.

I'm afraid of that happening to me. I just bought a 361 because I wanted a new saw with a little more power, but not too much weight (my go too saw before was the 026, also my newest saw). Now I'm wanting to buy another new saw (because of AS), but I don't want to go away from the 361 as my go to saw.... The 441/460/461 would be more weight than I would want to carry normally, but I want one!..
The 441 is a cool looking saw!:bang:

Well, yeah, the 441 is a little heavier, particularly with the 25" bar. My former go-to saw was the 036, same wt/pwr as the 361. When I take the 20" off it and put it on the 441, the difference is like a couple pounds, max. I have to carry my stuff some distance from the truck when cutting, so every pound makes a difference to me. But I like the 441 so much I'm finding excuses to use it most of the time. I like the 25" bar, but when I don't really need it, the 20" makes that 441 only slightly heavier than the 036. By the time I'd run a half doz. tanks of fuel thru the new saw, I didn't want to put it down for another saw most of the time.
