Man that`s great Rich, I know you are going to like that saw so much that you will be running it as is for a couple of days and then thinking of doing all sorts of mods to it. You can keep this thread going for a year or more. LOL
I just got back home for lunch and found that the mail Lady has dropped me off 4 boxes with saws inside of them and 2 packs with 4 bars in them. "Christmas" whoooohoooo!

Looks good on the 028 and directs the exhaust away to the side and past the case where the stock mufflers discolor the paint.
I tried the square tube on my 044 muffler but it did not quite look right to my eye.

This is one of my early attempts at dual porting on a 044, 2 round holes 5/8 diam. behind the square extensions. I was not overly pleased with this look so I kept experimenting and after a half dozen different attempts of round ports on the front cover I settled on doing all my mufflers like the 066 posted earlier.

Makes it tough when things have to be "just right"...I know all about it.

I must admit that it took me 5-6 tries at dual porting to get a look I liked and I know others like their ports to look differently ,to each his own when it comes to this topic and thats all well and good really. Now I have a half dozen muffler covers that have to be altered/patched in and done over to look like the 066 muffler, then things will be just right.LOL

I would remove the ridge and re chamfer if needed, I don't think it will effect the timing enough to worry about. But I'm not as experience at some here, so lets see what other have to say.

thats whats I thought too, but i figured I would wait and ask first.

i also re-port matched my muffler and gasket and also opened up the muffler to give me a little more than 100% area of the exhaust port. also, I was going to use permatex copper for the cyl. base, but the container says not to use where in contact with gas... what to use????

Permatex copper will work fine, it's not in contact with gas, it's sandwiched between to pieces of metal into a skim less than .001 in. Just a skim, more than that and it squishes out into the base. Getting rid of the ridge will slightly increase intake durration, thats fine, flow will be improved.
