Is that you making some premix oil capsules that you just through into the gas and they disolve there and release the oil in the exact quantity? Man is that cool!

Yup:)

People think I'm doing genetic testing when I'm just trying to get good piston ring life and low smoke;)

Did anyone other than me cut any wood today, or was it "hijack a thread and post like a 12 year old day" ? :stupid:

Glad to see you got your entry in before the deadline.

Wow...you come across as a jerk. Guess you think you're the only hero who ever works? Thats not a very good way to get along with people who mostly were trying to help you. This is the best bunch of people you'll ever find - even tho you're a jerk you could probably tear your saw up and the people in here would still try to help you. Now get back to work Jerk

LMAO... hey new guy... check the archives... this is a topic that has been beaten to death for the 10 millionth time...

Go easy...

Gary
LipDawg was busy at work and wanted me to ask you a question Gary. I tried using the search and couldnt find it:

If Lipdawg isnt to busy and has time to fry his thanksgiving turkey in virgin peanut oil, when he's done can he strain the oil through his cleanest dirty drawers and use it for bar and chain oil??

On a serious note, my Stihl dealer told me that deviating from the 50:1 mix for Stihl saws can cause the saw to overheat as the "Gas Vapors cool the engine" In any case, I do use 50:1 only because that's what the manual says.

I'm thinking the "jerks" would be the ladies that simply read the thread heading, and felt the overwhelming urge to type useless answers. Reread the original post, it does not ask anything about oil ratios, yet several "jerks" responded with ratio answers...um, ok, thanks. Ya also gotta love the OCD folks that have to read a thread that they have no intention of answering other than to point out the search feature. Got it, thanks captain obvious. Just a hint, you don't have to open the thread, if you think you have nothing to contribute.

For anyone still paying attention to the original intent of this post, I shall ask again, what is the differenct between the 50:1 engine and all of my 40:1 engines?

Thanks for any real help anyone can offer.

My new Husky 460 uses a 50:1 mix, while my 5 year old Husky 142 calls for 40:1. My weedwhacker, blower, etc also call for 40:1. My question is what is different about the 460 that it needs the different mix?

Sounds like he just wanted to stay on topic. He made one comment, compared to the many that put him down. Why call him a jerk?, he may help you some day.

Thank you LIPDAWG for pointing out who you consider a jerk on the forum. Your comments are rude, out of line, and simply unprofessional.

Good come back! Now everybody back to work, unless you have something to contribute to the OP's question.

Great, thanks for the helpful reply to the original question, you have been helpful beyond belief.

I go 50:1 in everything. I can see the benefit of 40:1 in hot saws, but don't believe it's necessary in most saws. Why create extra emissions if we don't have to?

Did I just open pandora's box?

Anyone here ever tried the Amsoil sythetic Sabre two stroke oil. I've used it at a 100:1 mix in Stihl, Husky, and even older Homelite saws, and it seems to work just fine. We always put 1 oz./gal of Seafoam in the mix to stabilize things and sometimes our gas will sit around for months, especially in things like a generator. So far, so good.

What is the opinion on the really thin mix for the synthetic ?

There is no difference between the 50:1 engine and all of your 40:1 engines,
the difference is in the newer 2 stroke oils.
