I think (unfortunately) you haven't seen the last of your ex friend. I think I would let the authorities know what happened. Watch your back. He may come looking for some revenge.

Nobody that's a friend steals from you. It's just that simple. Maybe a thief that appears as a friend but not a friend.

I sure hope he does. I'll be waiting on him for sure.

But yea, you do have a good point. He may try to press charges on me. I did'nt really see any mark on him when I left. I think I caught him in the chin. Kinda stepped into it, ya know. Hopefully the other guy would'nt take his side, as he is pretty cool really. Said he did'nt know it was mine, but dude just went straight and called him when he left here. Guess thats why he stopped at his house for a sec. This guy who had bought it had just got a settlement from having a beam dropped on him wherwe he worked. Has from major cash right now. he knew that he would pay 200 for it. The guy also cuts alot of wood, and has a few saws.

I dont have any friends that come over any more, but I would have done the same thing.

Thats me too. Had lots when I was younger. Settled down now, quit hanging out. Still have 2 or 3 good friends that come by some. Couple I know would never steal. even though I thought this dude would'nt either! Goes to show, you never really know anyone.:(

In all honesty and kiding aside.., you kept a cool head through it all. I think it is wise to maybe go down to the local lawman and talk over the events just to have something on record before he does.

maybe a good reason to keep a running list of serial numbers on saws and other equipment......

I can't tell you how happy this made me. I would have done the same, I am not a big guy, but when I get ticked, I can do some damage (therefor I play hockey :D )

If somebody ever stole one of my saws, ESPECIALLY the 346xp, I would mess them up. Just thinking about it makes me angry, and I think i would be more upset about it than anything else I own or am related to.

Yea, maybe file a report and not press charges right off.

I don't think I should tell them what I done should I? But what if he does, and I don't tell them, would it matter?

I'm kinda getting paranoid about the whole deal.

Sounds like your ex-friend has developed a bad habit and needed a fix.

Hate to say it but it has already been mentioned that he might be back looking for something else to steal and sell quickly.

I document every saw purchase even from CL and I don't have a bill of sale. Whatever went down I keep notes on it.

While I think you did right, ask the moderators to delete this thread immediately. You may think your "friends" will never see this, but the Internet is there for everyone to see, and things have funny ways of spreading around.

You don't want something you posted online to come back and bite you in the ass.

Honest feedback. Trust me. Don't ask me how I know.

Chainsaw are like children really. That's why I'm on Anthony_Va.'s side. I would be livid if I saw someone with my old 340 in their hand!

We had a lady cleaning our house back 7 years or so ago, and we trusted her. Then we started missing things, including my wife's 2500.00 diamond ring which I had given her. A video camera, and she even stole my wife's wedding dress out of her closet. We didn't have concrete proof, but we knew she did it. She later got caught red-handed and arrested in 2 more thefts. Needless to say, we clean our own house now. We also have been paying ADT a high monthly price ever since. It's a shame, but you can't tell who you can trust anymore. I blame alot of it on drugs.

i think you handled it perfectly.

Just venting here. Sorry guys.

I had a "friend" come over today that comes over every now and then. He was here for awhile just talking and things like that.

Well, I was using my 660 today at work and had it in the back of the truck. I had forgot to bring it in. Well, after he left, about 10 minutes later I was going to run out to the store and noticed it was gone!!:censored:

I remembered seeing it when I came in the house and I could'nt grab it because I was carrying food for me and the woman. I live off the road so I pretty much knew no one had seen it from the road and grabbed it.

Much as I hated to think it, I knew pretty much that he had to have got it!

I figured there was'nt no time before he could hide it, knowing I might find out. I went to his house and his mom said he had just left and told mw where he was headed. I did'nt act mad, just asked her if she seen the saw I let him borrow. She said no. So here I go to the place she sid he went, which was another aqquaintence's house.

This is the messed up part:

I get thee and there he is in the driveway, saw in the other guys hand. He looked like he saw a ghost when I came squealin in. I tried not to, but I could'nt help but hit him right in the chin. He fell down but was'nt knocked out or anything. I fought back kicking the crud out of him and said to the other guy, "I'll be taking that saw with me bro". He says, 200 bucks and you can take it!!!:censored:

My so called buddy had sold my saw to this guy. Now as I said above, I knew this guy well too. I sais, "well you better get your money back from him because this saw IS going with me! When he realized I was about to drill him too, he handed it over and started cussing my so called bud that stole it. I told him next time I seen him he was going to get another hit to the mouth from me. I said a few otherr choice words to both of them and left. I should have called the law I guess, but I needed satisfaction right then and there.

Can y'all believe that crap!? I hate to wonder what if I had'nt decided to go to the store right then. My 660 would have been gone and even though I would have thought it was him, I could'nt have proven it. I really never did fully believe that he took it till I seen it.

I want you guys to imagine the feeling I had when I seen my saw with them. Did I do the right thing? I think so.

I tell you one thing. I hav'ent been that ticked in a long time.

Sorry again for the rant!

that's the problem up here.everyone runs to call the law. that why most people up here are gay and/or Obama voters.

Damn I miss the South!!!! I should be back for good by the end of the year !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, until this moment you COULD have deleted all your own posts and been OK. Now that the original post has been quoted in its entirety, you have to beg the mods to zap the whole thread.

I my case on another forum, I did beg the mods and they did zap the thread. Alas, it was too late, and I had the cop at my door a couple days later. Luckily it was only a warning ticket. Could have been FAR worse!

Do not let this happen to you.

You guys really think I should delete the thread? I know this guy has no idea about this site, and I don't even know anyone else around here thats on the forum either. I know this rant is making me feel better so I hate to get rid of it yet.

But if y'all think I really need too.

Are you talking about the time you stoled that jar of anal lube becuase your girl friends mom was working the register?.

I wouldn't delete it. If it comes to anything tell the judge you'd deck the peckerhead again if you had to. Takes a lot of restraint not to clock someone sometime, don't know what stops me.

Pretty quick fence I'd say, like he knew where to dump it. Curious 'bout the buyer.

My opinion is: if your "buddy" was dumb enough to STEAL your chainsaw, get duffed in the jaw (which he should have taken like a man for being a dumba$$) and then has the sack to call the cops to explain his side (which he wont), I'll go down to VA and duff him again! I see no harm in venting your frustration here.
