My Chinese 365XP copies...

Just look at all the UTV's they have cloned. I was at a flea market last summer and the cops showed up and conficated alot of knock off clones, sun glasses, tennis shoes, purses, watches, perfumes, etc. A month later they were right back selling the same knock offs. Its impossible to buy any thing unless it is made in China. Went to two hardware stores the other day, to purchase some water pipe fittings, (a year ago they said USA) now they say "China" I understand Lowes was even selling drywall made in China. Oh well, like Nancey Polsi said, unemployment is good, that way you can get a check and not have to work.

It's rare to hear someone who understands it's our own fault, good for you for paying attention. Usually it's "those darn politicians" or someone else's fault. We can reverse the situation, but it doesn't seem we have the will to. We need to get out of debt as both individuals and a country first and foremost. Hard to do when everyone wants everything "right now!!"

Well, my friend.....I wish we lived a little closer to each other. I'd love to go have a beer with you and discuss this. We wouldn't actually solve anything, but it would be a great conversation, and one thing I can guarantee you....We wouldn't be drinking a Tsingtao!!!!!;)

Now, let's all go to Walmart and buy some more landfill fodder.:bang:

Thanks for all the comments guys and I basically agree with each and every one of you. As I mentioned earlier, I can make more money out of genuine saws imported from the states. By doing so it could be argued that I am hurting my own country but sometimes I just like to "stick it to the man" as we get the guts gouged out of us on chainsaw pricing in Australia.
As mentioned earlier I am NOT a fan of the Chinese reproducing saws that are still in production. With me buying two of these Husky 365 knock offs does not mean I support it either.
What this thread has shown quite well is that to assume the Chinese make crap saws is not necessarily true.
My biggest concern from this whole thing is the Stihl chain knock off. I don't know how it would cut but if you bought some of this chain NOBODY could tell that it isn't genuine without maybe using it and finding it doesn't hold up.
Although the 365 copy is obviously just that, they had not plastered it with genuine Husky stickers etc.

Anyway, here is a short video of one of them in some pretty hard wood. I didn't realise the log would start shifting around but the saw did way better than expected.

It was cold in the vid and hadn't been run for about 24 hours...

Yeah, and a lot of that drywall was toxic and releases gas that makes people so ill they have to abandon their homes. Don't forget to grab the baby's formula on the way out...oops that was made in China too and has melamine in it.

This crap is going to undermine the dealers, That is absolute BULL CRAP:sucks:

You really think so? Do you think I am going to import these en masse? Do you think that somebody who has AUD$400 to spend is actually in the market for an AUD$1300 365 anyway?
On a grand scale, anybody in the market for a saw like this will never have bought a big name saw anyway. Those that want a 365 will still buy one.

As mentioned what this thread has shown is don't underestimate the Chinese as they don't care what they copy and inside China nobody can touch them.

Anyway, it's Saturday yet I still have to go to work to support this great country of ours and pay more taxes. What are you doing this weekend to support yours?

I understand your reasons for buying it, I really do. Stinks that you get taxed so much. But don't kid yourself, you voted with your dollars and you DO support this now, to the tune of a couple saws. Everyone can rationalize away their behavior and buy just one or 2 of them, right? Pretty soon all saws are made in China.

A good test of your actions for me has always been to ask myself "what if everyone did this?"

This is not a bash on you personally and I hope you don't take it that way. I'm sure a lot of the parts on my saws were made in China too. But seeing firsthand the technology theft that is occuring, I hate these knockoff items, and no matter how much I can save I won't buy them as long as a legitimate alternative is available.

in the video its actually not sounding bad at all.

but you never know what you get, so this batch could be great... the next one totally crap

:agree2:All of us in North America have made our bed and have to sleep in it now......We all (I'm generalizing here) have this hunger for all things cheap. Almost the only industries we have left in either the USA or Canada that truly fuel our economies are producing resource based (Or at least semi-finished) products, to supply China and other similar countries with the means to make this cheap crap that we lust after each day. We've cut our own throats years ago and all that's left to do now is finish bleeding out.

We are their pawns now......Sad, but true.

Right on, brother. We speak volumes with our wallets and we do a pretty poor job of it. Wanna change the world? Change how you spend your money.

The Chinese 365 is a horror story to me.

MCW, we do appreciate your detailed report. We don't like the message, but we're not blaming the messenger.

:agree2: Well said.

The discussion regarding reverse engineering and China's disregard for patents belongs in this thread, as it pertains to chainsaws.

Boy they got that Husky copied pretty good all the way down to the hard starting.;)
For the money of the Chinese saw and the shipping I would be more inclined to purchase a used Husky or Stihl saw off of ebay or craigslist and would never think twice about the quality or durability. If these Chinese saws are running $600 with shipping I could get a really nice used saw.

Why are you posting pure BS like that?
Remember our sense of humor, watching the vid. reminded me of my woodcutting friend trying to start his Husky. I would also purchase a real Husky over a Chinese one.

they will likely never be available here atleast in any volume as its a knock off and im sure husky has all the legal means needed to keep it that way.
but just for the fun of it lets say that there was local dealers selling high quality chinese saws and other dealers selling high quality swedish saws, in my opinion you are supporting your local dealer regardless of who you buy from, wether the rest of the profit goes to china or sweden really doesnt matter much to me, in fact would probably just as soon see it go to china given the choice of those 2 lol.

Not so sure Husky can stop it.

IMO if it could be stopped I sure would have thought Honda
would have stopped it. I would say that Honda is many, many times
bigger than Husky and have alot more resources at their disposable.
Or maybe Honda is OK with all of the China's copy's of Honda small engines.

TT

I dont know how many popular models the Chinese try to imitate, is it more than a few of the larger stihls and this Husky 365? Anyway you know what they say "imitation is the best form of flattery". MCW is basically buying a tool to do a job, nothing more nothing less. Who out there doesn't own a Chinese pair of pliers from your local farm store? REJ2
