Predictions for the new A.S.

My prediction for this new format...........

They will have to modify the "Rewards" program, or it will hurt this forum.

After wading through all of the crap posts brought on by the "Rep" feature, the Reward
thing will quickly get out of hand. People making hundreds of meaningless posts, starting
silly threads, just to gain reward points so they can get an A.S. hat or shirt.

Just thinking about it while I write this, makes me shudder. All of these guys typing
out incoherant babble as fast as they can, trying to build up reward points, thinking of
any question to throw up and start a thread.
Bottom line, people will stop reading, not wanting to wade through the swill.


Anyone else have a prediction, or a suggestion?

I never heard of a rewards program. I think Tylenol sales will go up due to the squinting and eye strain it requires to view now. I also think it will get less usage due to this new format.

Yes, it is, but with incentive to get points for something real like a hat or shirt, I
think it will get a lot worse, even to the point of seriously hurting the forum.

I don't think so. Consider this: Administrators will monitor accrued points and initiate rewards when applicable.

If you're posting a bunch of crap, I can't see the administrators thinking an actual reward is "applicable." Give it a chance--it's a neat idea.

I don't disagree. There's just a lot o' trash to wade through already, so most folks will just take it in stride.

Frankly, the whole format conversion seems to be an exercise in AS shooting their feet off just to see if they can still stand up.

They're already taxed by moderating the complaints and infractions, and will have extra time to implement an "awards/points" program?

I think the new A.S. will be just fine. It will take a little while to get used to though. I don't think many people will go to that much trouble just to get a hat though. I wouldn't.

I think you are right. We already have at least one member who seriously spams this forum. Imagine posting at the rate of over twenty thousand postings in under three years....almost twenty postings per day....every day!
